N2, CO2, and N2O Information

N2 Safety Information

Product Details: N2 is an odorless, diatomic gas used in culinary and beverage applications. It is commonly added to kegs along with coffee or beer to create a foamy or caffeinated beverage known as "nitro coffee" or "nitro beer." N2 canisters are small, disposable metal containers holding compressed Nitrogen, ranging from 2g to 2.4g. The canister colors can vary from silver to brown.

N2 Canisters:

  • Contain between 2g-2.4g of Nitrogen depending on the cartridge size.
  • Are under high pressure and should only be used with approved devices following manufacturers' instructions.
  • Are non-aerosol and non-refillable.
  • Are made of recyclable steel. Check local recycling programs for appropriate disposal.
  • Must not be disposed of full. Ensure they are fully emptied and safely chopped in half using appropriate machinery.
  • Should be kept out of reach of children.
  • Present explosion danger above 50°C (max temperature).
  • Must not be taken on board an aircraft as pressurized canisters can explode. They should only be transported by road.
  • Are usually stainless steel silver but may have an outer painted coat, such as brown.

N2 Restrictions & Storage:

  • N2 cartridges are age-restricted products. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase them due to their compressed and pressurized nature, which can be potentially dangerous if mishandled.
  • Keep N2 canisters in a cool place (under 50°C) away from direct heat or sunlight.
  • N2 is not flammable and cannot be ignited.
  • Inhaling N2 can be dangerous and may cause health issues. Seek immediate medical advice if inhaled.
  • Do not expose N2 cartridges to freezing gas burns. Seek medical advice if such burns occur, as they can cause deep tissue damage.

N2 Disposal and Recycling:

  • Empty canisters are non-refillable and made of recyclable steel. Proper recycling requires expelling all gas before safely chopping them in half.
  • Follow manufacturers' safety instructions to ensure complete removal of compressed gas.
  • Always prioritize safety when recycling N2 cartridges.

CO2 Manufacturers Safety Information

Product Details: A CO2 cartridge, also known as a Powerlet cartridge or CO2 charger, is a small disposable metal container holding compressed CO2 gas (8g-88g) used as a power source in various applications, including air guns, airsoft guns, air rifles, paintball guns, and quick inflation devices.

CO2 Cartridges:

  • Are under great pressure due to the presence of compressed Carbon Dioxide (E290).
  • Should be used according to manufacturers' instructions.
  • Are non-aerosol and contain 8g-88g of CO2 gas under pressure.
  • Must not be pierced. They can become very cold when punctured.
  • Must not be disposed of full. Ensure the cartridge is empty before removing it from your device.
  • Should be kept out of reach of children.
  • Present explosion danger above 50°C (max temperature).

Storing CO2 Cartridges:

  • CO2 cartridges are age-restricted products. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase them due to their pressurized nature, which can be potentially dangerous if mishandled.
  • Keep CO2 chargers in a cool place (under 50°C) away from direct heat.
  • CO2 is naturally present in the air we breathe but can be harmful at high concentrations. Low concentrations are not harmful.
  • Avoid inhaling high concentrations of CO2, as it can affect respiratory function and displace oxygen in the air.
  • CO2 is not flammable and cannot be ignited. It is commonly used in fire extinguishers for electrical fires.

CO2 Disposal and Recycling:

  • Used chargers are non-refillable and made of recyclable steel.
  • Proper recycling requires expelling all gas and safely chopping the cartridges in half.
  • Follow manufacturers' safety instructions to ensure complete removal of compressed gas before recycling.

N2O Product Safety Information

Product Details: Cream chargers, also known as Nitrous Oxide (N2O) chargers, contain pure Nitrous Oxide (E942). They are used in culinary applications, particularly in whipped cream dispensers. Cream chargers are pressurized gas canisters, typically made of high-grade fully disposable stainless steel or recyclable aluminum.

Cream Charger Safety Guidelines:

  • Cream chargers are for food use only.
  • Tanks are under high pressure and should only be used with approved devices following manufacturers' instructions.
  • Cream chargers are non-aerosol, non-refillable, and made of recyclable steel or aluminum.
  • Do not dispose of full cartridges or canisters.
  • Keep cream chargers out of reach of children.
  • Explosion danger above 50°C (max temperature).
  • Cream chargers should not be taken on board aircraft as they can explode due to pressure. They should be transported only by road.
  • Freezing N2O can cause burns. Seek immediate medical advice if burnt by freezing gas.

Cream Charger Recycling:

  • Cream chargers are not refillable but made of recyclable steel or aluminum.
  • Empty tanks can be recycled along with tin cans in areas with appropriate recycling programs.
  • Follow local recycling guidelines and ensure complete removal of pressurized gas before recycling.

High Pressure Warning - Handle with Care:

  • Tanks are filled with compressed gas under high pressure. Ensure cartridges are empty before removal from devices.
  • Tanks can become very cold when punctured, so avoid direct contact to prevent freezing gas burns.
  • Seek medical advice if freezing gas burns occur, as they can cause deep tissue damage.
